Speaking to IQNA, Abdullah Mazuzi thanked the organizers for choosing “One Book, One Ummah, Book of Resistance” as the motto of the contest.

He described it as very meaningful as the Book of God brings all of the Muslim together and unites them, highlighting Verse 103 of Surah Al Imran: “And hold fast to the Bond of Allah, together, and do not scatter.”

Mazuzi referred to the role of such Quranic events in strengthening Islamic unity and said by promoting acquaintance with the Quran and its teachings, they contribute to the unity of the Muslim Ummah.

He said it was his first participation in Iran’s Quran competition, hailing the good planning and the high level of the contenders.

Asked about Quranic activities in his country, the qari, who is also a memorizer of the entire Quran, said people in Algeria send their children to Quran schools and mosque to learn the Holy Book from an early age.

He said he himself started learning the Quran by heart at an early age and managed to memorize the entire Quran at 14.

He then learned Quran recitation skills along with his school lessons.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Mazuzi said he has learned a lot from renowned Quran reciters of Egypt and that he has high respect for and likes Mohammad Sidiq Minshawi.

He further wish an end to the suffering of the people of the Gaza Strip, who have been facing an Israeli genocidal war for five months and prayed for their victory.
